Slow Cooker Pork Chops!

Maybe things really do go better with Coke. ™ Including cola drinks into your beloved cake mix or recipe adds moisture, while the carbonation serves to make  the cake lighter. Incorporating your favorite cola to almost any meat will tenderize it and delight you with the delectable results. From baking a cake to fixing pork chops and chicken or marinating a brisket, you can use soft drinks in a unexpected number of recipes. The sweetness of the cola and lightens desserts.

The first peaches were grown in China and revered as a good luck symbol. Peaches swiftly “went viral” worldwide, gleaning monikers such as the “Nipple of Venus” for their succulent flesh. Today, they are largely grown and harvested along  the east coast—not just in Georgia, contrary to popular belief—with its peak growing season from April through the end of August. While you just can’t beat the simple pleasure of eating a fresh peach right out of your hand, there is more to this luscious fruit than meets the eye.

Ingredients for Cola Barbecue Pork Chops:

Sea salt and black peppercola barbecue pork chops
1 8oz can of tomato sauce
1 cup of Coca-Cola Classic™
⅓ cup of peach jam or preserves
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp Cajun seasoning
2 TBSP light brown sugar
½ tsp garlic powder
1 cup chopped onion

Cooking Directions:

Dust the pork chops with salt and pepper; brown in cooking oil if desired. In a large bowl, blend the tomato sauce, cola, peach jam or preserves, Worcestershire sauce, Cajun seasonings, light brown sugar and garlic powder. Taste and fine-tune seasonings to your liking; set aside. Bathe each chop in the sauce and drop into slow cooker. Top with chopped onions. Pour the remainder of the sauce over all, cover and cook on low setting for 4 to 6 hours or until desired doneness. Remove the pork chops from the slow cooker with a large spatula. Serve with potatoes or rice and a crisp, green salad.
